Anadarko and its Mozambique LNG co-venturers have on Tuesday committed to donate a quarter of a million US dollars to support the victims of cyclone Kenneth in the province of Cabo Delgado.
The donation will be delivered through the Red Cross. Previously, the Mozambique LNG Project donated 200,000 USD to support the victims of recent natural disasters in the central region of Mozambique.
Steve Wilson, Vice President and Anadarko ́s Country Manager in Mozambique, said: “In a short period of time, adverse weather conditions once again have severely affected the country. We are deeply saddened by this tragic situation. As a friend and partner of Mozambique, we are committed to playing our part in the response to this emergency that has affected the Cabo Delgado province, where we are implementing our project. We want to show our solidarity to the people, families and communities directly affected by cyclone Kenneth. We join the efforts of the Government of Mozambique, and hope that our contribution will help to bring some level of relief to the affected families.”
About Mozambique LNG Project
The Mozambique LNG project will be Mozambique’s first onshore LNG development, initially consisting of two LNG trains with total nameplate capacity of 12.88 MTPA to support the development of the Golfinho/Atum fields, located entirely within Offshore Area 1. This foundational project paves the way for significant future expansion of up to 50 MTPA. The Golfinho/Atum Project will also supply initial volumes of approximately 100 million cubic feet of natural gas per day (MMCFD) for domestic use in Mozambique.
Anadarko Moçambique Área 1, Lda, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, operates Offshore Area 1 with a 26.5-percent working interest. Co-venturers include ENH Rovuma Área Um, S.A. (15 percent), Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1 Ltd. (20 percent), ONGC Videsh Ltd. (10 percent), Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Limited (10 percent), BPRL Ventures Mozambique B.V. (10 percent), and PTTEP Mozambique Area 1 Limited (8.5 percent).
