The president of Anadarko Mozambique said yesterday that he hopes to conclude discussions with the Mozambican government in the first half of this year, and start natural gas production in the north as soon as possible.
John Peffer said yesterday during a conference on mineral resources in Maputo that the US oil company had reached agreement with the executive on a “considerable amount” of issues in 2015, and that by the end of the first half of this year, it expected to finalise the outstanding issues.
“When this work is completed, it will be a significant milestone,” Peffer said. He declined to commit to a specific date for the Rovuma basin consortium’s final investment decision or for the actual start of natural gas production, just saying that he hoped it would happen “as soon as possible”.
