As part of the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus to Bollore and Amuji, two transport and logistics companies in the northern part of Inhambane province have offered masks to Vilankulo City Council.
The 20,000 handmade masks, valued at just over 3 million meticais, were handed over on Wednesday (20), and will be distributed also to the police, health and education sector personnel and the district secretariat.
Speaking at the handover, Celina Macie, representative of Bollere Transportes e Logística, said that the social responsibility gesture had helping fight the spread of the new coronavirus as its specific goal.
Yassin Amuji, owner of the Amuji company, the other concern involved, said that his firm would continue to collaborate with the Vilankulo Municipal Council in creating defences against the new coronavirus, and provide means of protection to residents.
Amuji added that both Bollore and his own company were committed to Vilankulo’s development, and that initiatives such as the present one would be forthcoming whenever possible.
President of Vilankulo Municipal Council William Tunzine welcomed the Bollore and Amuji gesture, saying the masks would complement the city council’s work in combating the spread of the new coronavirus.
The ceremony also saw the official delivery of a computer room comprising 14 computers and two years’ prepaid internet connection to Gamela Primary School.
This equipment was also donated by Bollore and Amuji, in the hope that it would contribute to teaching and learning around information technologies by giving children more opportunity to learn from experience and better prepare for their future.
