Amade Chemane Camal Júnior has passed away in Portugal at the age of 71, of an illness. The Mozambican politician, businessman, and respected commentator on STV Notícias and other news channels was widely recognized for his contributions to both the public and private sectors.
Camal was the CEO of Sir Comércio Internacional (Sir Motors) and played a significant role in Mozambique’s transportation industry through his work with major transportation companies.
From 1994 to 1999, Amade Camal served as a member of the National Assembly (Parliament), elected in the first democratic elections post-independence to represent Nampula province.
He also held the position of president of the Automóvel e Touring Clube de Moçambique (ATCM).
In 2023, as part of a broader protest by several Mozambican organizations against Israel’s occupation of Palestine, Camal’s company, Sir Comércio Internacional, joined the initiative by declaring its refusal to sell Israeli products, aligning itself with the unofficial “Israeli apartheid-free zone.”
