Residents of Beira’s Manga neighbourhood put to death a man who allegedly broke into a house with some friends to rob it.
The man was burned alive with tires and fuel in the street.
Witnesses interviewed by independent television channel STV say they took the action because they are tired of lodging complaints with the police to no effect and decided to take matters into their own hands.
“The thief was accompanied, but his friends got away. He deserved it, because here in Manga we do not sleep peacefully because of the thieves prowling the neighbourhood at night in motorbike taxis,” one witness said.
