Mozambique: Ana Maria Gemo is the new president of the Administrative Tribunal
Figures released by the police in Sofala yesterday claim that since last November 11, 19 attacks were made on against civilian and military targets along the EN1 between the Save and Zambezi rivers, resulting in two deaths and three serious injuries and substantial damage to property.
According to the police, the attacks were carried out by Renamo men and took place on the EN1 between Muxúnguè-Save and Nhamapaza-Caia.
The first 10 attacks were perpetrated in just three days, leading security forces to reintroduce mandatory escorted convoys between Muxungué and Save on the 17th of this month.
In the section between Nhamapaza and Caia, three attacks were recorded in a single day (17 February), with one casualty registered near the Fudza River – a motorist traveling towards Nampula. The car was then set on fire by the attackers.
