Alleged passport application fraudster arrested in Maputo

Mozambican authorities yesterday (Thursday) detained a citizen accused of soliciting illicit charges and misinforming passport applicants in the area outside the National Migration Service (SENAMI) in Maputo.
The individual now detained approached people and promised to ease application and procedural processes, charging amounts above those established by SENAMI.
According to Felizardo Jamaca, spokesperson for the Maputo provincial migration directorate, the authorities are engaged an ongoing fight against fraud and illegal intermediation at SENAMI.
The detained citizen says he is a security company employee, but that he practices this illegal activity on his days off.
The arrest of the individual was the result of a coordinated operation involving SENAMI and the Police of the Republic of Mozambique.
