A 35-year-old man accused of kidnapping a 12-year-old albino girl has been beaten to death in Malawi.
The girl, Isabel Alberto, is from the village of Muhela, in Chissaua, Mecanhelas disctrict, Niassa province.
Diário de Moçambique quotes police spokesman Alves Mate as saying yesterday that it all started when Horacio Mahora asked the child’s mother to sell him her daughter. The mother was then assaulted and tied up, the gang of four kidnappers fleeing with the 12-year-old.
Later, people heard that Mahora was found to be hiding in Malawi.
Alves said that, following Mahora’s death, investigations are underway to capture the remaining three gang members and locate the missing albino girl.
