The Zambezi Regional Water Authority has warned of more flooding in the lower Zambezi as a result of further discharges from the Cahora Bassa dam in Tete province.
Water authority director general Custódio Vicente reiterates the need for people to vacate low-lying terrain in order to avoid loss of property and even death.
“We call on the population to stay away from areas adjacent to the Zambezi River, with the emphasis on the entire region downstream from Tete, the lower Zambezi region and all districts irrigated by the Zambezi,” he said.
