Albino five-year-old Brasileira Lino Alexandre was kidnapped a few days ago in the Marara district of Tete province by a group of criminals who overpowered her father at night. Meanwhile, in the districts of Luabo and Milange of Zambezia, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) have arrested two men accused of abducting albinos.
The Tete abduction took place in the Chirodzi area and is the first recorded case in that part of Mozambique, unlike Nampula, where albinos are living daily in fear of the ongoing spate of murders, kidnapping and mal-treatment, reports A Verdade.
In Zambezia, provincial Police Commander João Mahunguele said that the arrest of the alleged kidnappers was made possible by the assistance of the public, adding that one of the alleged kidnappers had tried to hold the victim captive.
