Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has accused the president’s spokesperson of disloyalty and of working against the interest of the first family.
Mrs Buhari said in a statement that Malam Garba Shehu was working with some people in the presidency to scrap the office of the first lady without the president’s knowledge.
Mrs Buhari also accused her husband’s nephew and long-time confidant, Mamman Daura, of being part of the group working to undermine her.
She said Mr Daura meddled in the affairs of running the state and her home.
Mrs Buhari also accused Mr Daura of being behind a video leaked on social media in October showing her in a fit of anger.
She said the video was released by Mr Daura’s daughter in an effort to mislead Nigerians into believing that she was locked out of the president’s main residence, Aso Villa, upon her return from a four-month stay in London.
The first lady accused Mr Shehu of purposefully ignoring the rumours that started as a result of the video even though he was the spokesperson for the presidency.
