Mozambique’s First Lady, Isaura Nyusi has sent a message to all Mozambican women in urging them to continue to play their role in society, in governance and in the family.
The message follows the July 31 celebration of the Day of the African Woman, established in 1962 at the Conference of African Women in Tanzania and intended to reflect on the status of women in Africa.
The date was established to provide a platform for African women to share their experiences and marshal efforts for women’s emancipation and integration on the African continent.
“In our capacity as women, mothers, wives, educators, farmers and leaders we need to continue united in sisterhood to transform our challenges into permanent achievements “, in a press release by Isaura Nyusi received by AIM declares.
The “mother of the Mozambican nation”, as she is affectionately known, recognises however that the difficulties encountered, especially in the economic field, are still enormous, but nevertheless lauds the great strides that the continent has achieved.
According to Isaura Nyusi, Mozambique is an example of these advances, with women integrated in all professional fields, even those which until quite recently were the sole province of men, such as engineering and civil aviation.
This year, the celebration is especially dedicated to women leaders in Africa and in particular, Mozambican women, who are an example of the struggle for peace, democracy and economic and social stability across the continent.
