The African Development Bank (AfDB) is preparing a technical assistance project for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) located along the Nacala Corridor in northern Mozambique, it announced on Saturday.
The Technical Assistance Project for Business Articulation in the Nacala Corridor aims to strengthen skills in the management of companies in the construction sector, the AfDB says, so that they can take advantage of business opportunities offered by the Nacala rail and port project in Nampula province.
The AfDB is looking for consultancy firms that can develop the three phases of the initiative, namely identifying potential clients, training and project management, and the preparation of mechanisms for ongoing monitoring.
At the end of technical assistance, the bank expects to see construction sector companies with strengthened capabilities and the institutions to support them in place. The overall objective is to complement the rail and port project and support inclusive growth along the Nacala Corridor in Mozambique, the AfDB concludes.
