The Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mozambique, António Saide, said on Tuesday (17-10) that Africa has the solution to the world’s challenges in terms of energy security and biofuel production.
“We have the solution to the world’s challenges regarding energy security. We have the energy resources, from coal to renewable energy. We have land for agriculture and can produce biofuels. We can deliver as much as is needed for the world,” the deputy minister said at the opening panel discussion of African Energy Week (AEW) 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa.
“Home to over 125 billion barrels of proven crude oil reserves and 620 trillion cubic feet of gas, Africa’s resource wealth stands at the intersection of global energy security. Not only a solution to advancing industrialization and electrification across the continent, investing in African energy will stabilise global markets, thereby strengthening a resilience to global challenges,” the African Energy Chamber stresses in a press release.
In the opening panel of the conference, members highlighted that geopolitical challenges show the need to diversify global value chains, with Africa emerging as the market of choice in this context.
“The continent not only offers an array of established energy markets with proven plays but a wealth of untapped opportunities, opening lucrative prospects for E&P players and capital providers,” the statement released by the organisation reads.
At African Energy Week 2023, the opening panel highlighted Africa’s key role in global security through its energy resources. Speakers discussed the continent’s potential and offered insights to expedite development.
