The tribute took place at the 65th Africa-America Institute Awards Gala, on the sidelines of President Nyusi’s participation in the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
“I would like to express our gratitude for this distinction, which will strengthen our determination to continue to build a better country for all, and our efforts to promote democracy, good governance and transparency,” President Nyusi said.

Harvard partners with UP
The Africa-America Institute also signed on the same occasion a partnership between Harvard University and Mozambique’s Pedagogical University aimed at boosting projects already under way in Mozambique.
Rector of Pedagogical University Jorge Ferrão said: “In 1964, we started the national liberation struggle. My country became independent in 1975. It is a great pleasure to be here with my president and to start this project with Harvard University,”
The agreement will enrich the education curriculum on the subject of Afro-descendancy.
