The African Development Bank (AfDB) is to disburse US$1.5 million to support agribusiness and infrastructure in northern Mozambique, according to a press release.
The amount will be channelled to projects in the provinces of Niassa and Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, the document reads, without providing further details.
The memorandum was signed on the sidelines of the annual AfDB meeting held in Busan, South Korea on May 21st to 25th.
“The AfDB has been a key partner of Mozambique for 40 years and is committed to supporting the country’s efforts to build a green and inclusive economy,” the communique reads.
The bank also announced that studies are under way for the construction of a final section of the Mueda-Negomane road linking the province of Cabo Delgado to the neighbouring Tanzania market.
“The program to develop value chains and markets along the Lichinga-Pemba corridor aims to promote competitive and inclusive agribusiness through increased agricultural production and productivity,” the statement adds.
