The Morocco Beach Soccer team lost 1-2 face to face to their Mozambique counterpart on Tuesday in Saly (Senegal), during the match counting for the 3rd day of Group B of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), a defeat which complicates the chances of the Moroccans to reach the semi-finals of this continental competition.
However, it is Morocco which opens the scoring with its goalkeeper Ismail El Ouariry. The two teams controlled each other for long minutes, before Yuran Jose Malate equalised for Mozambique, and Gerson Vicente Chivale scored the winning goal in added time.
The foals of Mostapha El Haddaoui, victorious over the Seychelles on Sunday, total only 3 points and now temporarily occupy third place in group B, behind Mozambique (9 points) and Egypt (3 points and +8 difference) .
Mozambique, who had a clear round winning all three games of the first round, lead the group with 9 points. This performance sends the Mozambicans to the semi-finals of the tournament which takes place in Saly, Senegal, from May 23 to 29.
In the other group B match of the day, Egypt signed a final victory (12-2) against the Seychelles, which ensures the Pharaohs who lost their first meeting against the Mozambicans to remain in contention.
Seychelles, who had already lost to Morocco and Mozambique, are quitting the race. Morocco and Egypt will have to decide on Wednesday in a match that looks like a final.
