Mozambique Airports’ annual general meeting started in Maputo today with Chairman Emanuel Chaves revealing that the company faced difficulties resulting from the slowdown in the economy affecting demand for air transport.
Despite these difficulties, the company achieved about two billion meticais in turnover in 2017.
The government has challenged the company to exert strict control over expenditure at all levels.
Also during 2017, the company awarded contracts for the construction of a hotel and shopping centre at Maputo International Airport and the construction of shopping centres at Chimoio and Nampula International airports.
