The Maputo Region Water Company (AdeM), on Thursday, July 25, guaranteed to increase the uninterrupted supply of water to 35 companies operating in Beluluane Industrial Park from the current 500 to 1,500 cubic metres of water per day. The guarantee also covers the communities of Jonasse and Djuba in Boane village, Maputo province.
The announcement was made public by Elias Machava, Chairman of AdeM’s Board of Directors (PCA), during a visit to the ongoing works at the Beluluane Industrial Park, where he noted with satisfaction the improved distribution of water from the Matola Rio Distribution Centre.
“Conversations with Beluluane Park management indicate that, as a result of this intervention, it is now possible to develop other industries, and to attract new companies to Beluluane Industrial Park,” he said.
Onório Manuel, Deputy General Manager of Beluluane Industrial Park, said that the upgrade had had a major impact since previously, industrial activity had been affected by the water restrictions. The increase will allow companies in Beluluane Industrial Park to increase production and help the park attract more investors, he said.
“We are a multi-sectoral park, which means that each activity has its own specific requirements. There are many activities for which industrial production and potable water is required, such as aluminium production and other food processing activities. Without the water, we were restricted,” Manuel said.
The Matola Rio Distribution Centre, which supplies the 44 districts of Matola municipality and Vila Autárquica de Boane, such as Jonasse and Djuba, has recently undergone repairs.
