Absa Group Limited announced on Wednesday that Luisa Diogo has been appointed as an independent non-executive director with effect from 1 September 2023.

In accordance with paragraphs 3.59 of the Equity Listings Requirements and 6.39 of the Debt Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, shareholders are informed that Luisa Diogo has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of Absa Group with effect from 1 September 2023.
Luisa is currently the non-executive chairman of Absa Bank Mozambique and is a non-executive director on the board of Total Mozambique. She is the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique (2004 to 2010) and the Minister of Planning and Finance (2000 to 2004).
Luisa is a seasoned leader with many years of experience in financial services and in the broader areas of economics, strategy and stakeholder management, having also added significant value at the helm of our Absa Bank Mozambique board for more than 10 years. We look forward to the contribution that Luisa will make to the Absa Group Board.
Luisa holds a B.Econ degree from the Eduardo Mondlane University and a Masters in Financial Economics from the University of London.
Luisa will become a member of the Group Risk and Capital Management Committee (GRCMC), Social, Sustainability and Ethics Committee (SSEC) and the Board Finance Committee (BFC).
