Absa Bank Moçambique has won the Best Bank in Mozambique award at the Euromoney 2020 Awards.
Euromoney magazine is recognised as a global leader in banking and finance reporting. The winners of the ‘Euromoney Awards for Excellence’ are selected annually by the magazine’s editors, journalists and analysts, who cover the financial markets and analyse criteria such as profitability, growth and efficiency.
The ‘Euromoney Country Awards for Excellence’ choose the best banks in each country in the above mentioned categories in each country, and for their ability to adapt to market conditions and customer needs, and Absa Bank Mozambique has won Euromoney 2020 edition ‘Best Bank in Mozambique’ award.
This is the first time that Absa Bank Moçambique has been so awarded.
Euromoney’s assessment highlights the bank’s ability to adapt, its resilience and its offer of immediate solutions for customers, partners and workers, at a time when the global market is facing challenges and changes in all sectors.
The Chief Executive Officer of Absa Bank Moçambique, Rui Barros, says the award reflects the bank’s commitment to developing more and better solutions to meet the needs of its customers and partners, and recognises the commitment and professionalism of its employees.
“It is a great honour for us to receive this distinction, since this is one of the most prestigious awards in the financial sector and also because, in such a competitive market, we have been recognised as the best. This award, in addition to reflecting the tireless work that each one of us at Absa is carrying out, despite all the obstacles that the current situation imposes on us, also demonstrates that we are on the right path to lead the innovation and development of the banking sector in Mozambique,” Rui Barros said.
“This distinction is the recognition of not only a strong commitment to a new identity with the launch of the Absa brand and a culture that increasingly invests in professionalism and rigour, but also of the bank’s effort and commitment to the prosperity of its customers. This is a clear reflection of our Africanity, which drives us to make things happen, regardless of the circumstances,” he concluded.
The Euromoney Awards for Excellence were established in 1992 and were the first of their kind in the global banking industry.
Euromoney magazine, founded in 1969, is internationally recognised as one of the leading magazines in the financial markets area. Among its thousands of regular readers are senior executives from companies in more than 170 countries.
