Absa Bank has been nominated the ‘Best Place to Work in 2023’ by Global Banking & Finance Review, thus reinforcing its position as a Bank of the People, for the People and an employer of choice.
This recognition is the result of investment in the quality of the work environment, diversity, the implementation of work flexibility policies, culture, continuous promotion plans to ensure the retention of staff, also ensuring gender balance, given that, for three consecutive years, 50% of its staff are women and currently the top leadership is mostly made up of women.
Contributing to this award was the indication that Absa maintained, even after the pandemic, the hybrid work models, in the functions that allowed it, ensuring that its People had all the conditions and work tools to be able to perform their tasks without need to be in person at the office. As well as its constant concern to improve its value proposition to employees, which goes beyond the preferential conditions in terms of pricing for credit and training. There is a concern at the Bank that also extends to the family, from maternity and paternity leave longer than those provided for by law, its medical and medication assistance system, as well as social, legal and psychological support to employees and their family, through partnerships with specialised entities, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
For Hanifa Hassangy, People and Culture Director at Absa Bank Mozambique, “the attribution of this award is recognition of the constant work we have been doing to value our People, for their talent and commitment to the institution. And this is only possible because of the trust they place in us. This award does not belong to the Bank, but belongs to our People”.
It should be recalled that Absa was awarded and certified ‘Top Employer Africa 2022’ by the Top Employers Institute, recognizing it as the ‘Best Employer’ for its dedication to creating a better working world by implementing the best practices and human resources policies, as well as being awarded the ‘Best Employer Brand 2022 Award’ by the LinkedIn Talent Awards at the African continent level, and named one of the most innovative organisations leading the future of work across Africa.
