About EUR 50,000 is to be spent on studying the feasibility of rehabilitating the Salone river in Sofala province’s Marromeu conservation complex.
The river connects with the Zambezi and is currently silted up due to a combination of factors.
The head of Water Resources Services at ARA-Zambezi, Manuel Mangwana, explained that the study, to be started in two days and take place over two years, was looking for a viable way to divert water from the Zambezi into the Salone.
The restoration of the Salone would facilitated fishing and agriculture in Marromeu, Cheringoma and Muanza districts, Mangwana said.
