The boat connection between the district headquarters of Manhiça and the administrative post in Calanga in Maputo province is still suspended after the accident that killed two soldiers last week, Noticias reports.
More than 8,500 Calanga residents have since been unable to reach the district headquarters town of Manhiça.
Head of Calanga administrative post, Juvenal Armando, said that the circulation of vessels between the two sides was suspended pending the re-establishment of safe conditions for the transport of people and goods.
The rising waters of the Incomáti River have destroyed extensive areas of food crops.
