Moderate Tropical Storm Faida headed to Mozambique

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale was recorded in the early hours of Saturday, just after four o’clock, in the towns of Beira and Dondo in the province of Sofala, causing panic among residents of those regions.
Some even left their homes fearing that they were assaults carried out by friends of others. The situation returned to normalcy. Up to the time we wrote these lines there were no records of human or material damage.
Mozambican authorities have not yet issued any official information on the occurrence, but according to data released by the US Geological Survey agency the tremor had a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale, and had its epicentre in the Dondo region.
Other reports also mention the occurrence of replicas in some regions of Manica province.
