35 tax officials subject to criminal and disciplinary action this year

Thirty-five officials of the Mozambican Tax Authority (AT) were subject to criminal and disciplinary action from January to August of this year for illegality, the president of the body has said.

Quoted by Radio Mozambique today, Amélia Nankare said that the officials concerned had engaged in extortion, misappropriation of funds and falsification of documents, and that the AT had variously dismissed or fined them.

Nankare pointed out that holding these employees accountable resulted from collaboration between the AT and the Central Office to Combat Corruption.
