The National Institute of Communications of Mozambique (INCM) has installed 15 digital plazas to allow free Internet access in 10 municipalities of the country.
The expansion of digital plazas in some Mozambican cities has allowed more people to benefit from the Internet for free in public places, said Ema Chicoco, president of the INCM.
The municipalities that have benefited from free Internet are Pemba, Lichinga, Moeda, Nampula, Ilha de Moçambique, Gúruè, Quelimane, Matola, Maputo and Beira.
The INCM is planning new free Internet facilities in the cities of Xai-Xai, Vilanculos and other parts of the country, added Chicoco, without specifying the number of people who are benefiting from the service so far.
The installation of digital plazas facilitates an improvement of the lives of people, especially students, because it provides school support, said Chicoco.
