1 million lanterns light up Thai temple for Makha Bucha Day

One million lanterns were used, according to a statement from Dhammakaya Temple in Pathum Thani province, where the festival was held.
LED screens were also set up around the dome of the temple, with devotees attending virtually via Zoom because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Makha Bucha Day commemorates the day when 1,250 monks gathered to be ordained by the Buddha more than 2,500 years ago.
