About Xinguerenguere band
Xinguerengure is a musical band that comes from the union of artists from different bands who met in the city of Maputo and joined in November 2015 for the rhythmic diversity that each member has for the creation of a new musical concept.
The band Xinguerenguere is constituted by the following members: NBC Gás Butano, main vocalist and instrumentalist (mbira and guitar), Tony Chabuca, viola bass and voice, Samito Tembe drums and chorus, Júlio Vasco Mariquel, percussionist.
This band touches a fusion of several Mozambican rhythms like Mapiko, Xigubo Limbondo Marabenta Ngalanga, Mutimba Namakoto, associating to the blues, jazz and other rhythms trying to bring a different form in their musical approaches without leaving the traditional one.
In their compositions they sing in: Makua, Makonde Mwani, Changana, Sena and Portuguese, and in them talking about the experiences of the Mozambican people, their struggles, challenges, sad moments and joyful in their day to day.
The Xinguerenguere band has already performed in various venues in Maputo, such as Parque Marginal at Kutsaga Festival, organised by Music Crossroad Mozambique, Africa Bar at Oleba Editor Sarau Cultural, Mozambican Association of Mozambican Writers in two editions of the Ngoma Ligoma project, in the Mozambican Musicians Association, in the restaurant Campo di Mare, in the Café Bar Gil Vicente three times and twice as a guest band at the Mbira Festival and at the end of the year letivoda Music Crossroad Mozambique academy.
