‘Women Here and Now’ at the Brazil-Mozambique Cultural Centre in Maputo
Xigogogowana Sessions: Marrabenta @ Mafalala Museum
A marrabenta session in Mafalala on Sunday, September 17, with Acácio and Eugénio Matuva, two excellent players from Mafalala, Maputo city.
'Xigogogowanas' are four-string tin guitars, the first used to play marrabenta.
This concert features Marrabenta classics and popular songs from the outskirts of Maputo, navigating a multitude of rhythms including the unsi, the marrabenta, the nfhena and the xiparatwana.
The event is promoted by the Gala-Gala Festival and Mafalala Museum.
