Writer of the month of August- Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa
With a view to deepening the knowledge of the work of Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa, a session will be held on August 8 a session organized by Eduardo Quive
The session will include reading excerpts from the text of the works "Ualalapi" and "Orgia dos Loucos" by Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa. From the idea of destruction or the strange form of reconstruction in the times of voracious nationalism to the figure of Ngungunhane that is confused with several personas.
Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa, the Tsonga name (Southern Mozambican ethnic group) of Francisco Esau Cossa, was born on 1 August 1957 in Inhaminga, Sofala province. Graduated in Law and History and Geography Teaching, he was a columnist in newspapers, co-founder of the literary magazine Charrua and deputy director of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual of Mozambique. He currently serves as director of the National Book and Disc Institute and is secretary general of the Mozambican Writers Association. With his debut work, Ualalapi (1987), is one of the hundred best African authors of the 20th century, and has since been widely awarded. He is also author of Orgia dos Loucos (1990), Histórias de Amor e Espanto (1993), Os Sobreviventes da Noite (2005, Prémio José Craveirinha), Choriro(2009), O Rei Mocho (infantojuvenil, 2012), Entre as Memórias Silenciadas (2013, BCI prize for best book of the year) e Cartas de Inhaminga (2017).
