The Role of Extractive Industry in Economic Growth and Structural Transformation
The Center for Democracy and Development (CDD) and the Center for African Studies at Leiden University of the Kingdom of the Netherlands welcome you to the webinar series on “Extractive Industries, Inclusive Governance and Structural Economic Transformation”. It is an inclusive debate initiative on opportunities for the structural transformation of the Mozambican economy and falls within the scope of the implementation of the African Policy Dialogue (APD) program.
The APD is implemented in the context of INCLUDE, a platform for the production and sharing of knowledge and engagement between academia, civil society organizations and public policy makers. The APD in Mozambique has been conducting research focusing on inclusive governance, e.g., LNG revenues and local content, as a potential catalyst for a structural economic transformation in Mozambique. Research was conducted in Sasol local content centric projects in Inhambane province; the LNG centric projects in Cabo Delgado province; and Coal mining centric projects in Tete province.
Research findings are being presented and discussed in the webinar series on “Extractive Industries, Inclusive Governance and Structural Economic Transformation”. The second webinar is scheduled for this Friday, July 30, from 2 pm to 4 pm, with the topic: “The Role of Extractive Industry in Economic Growth and Structural Economic Transformation”. Apart from CDD researchers, the webinar will feature the participation of members of civil society and government representatives.
