Vera Mantero Presents 2 Solos in KINANI
The Portuguese dancer and choreographer Vera Mantero will be in Mozambique between November 21 and 24 2017, with the support of Camões-Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, to participate in the 7th Edition of KINANI - International Platform of Contemporary Dance.
Vera Mantero began her career as a choreographer in 1987, having performed in important stages throughout Europe, Brazil, Argentina, the United States and Canada. Her artistic work has been widely recognized, with institutional awards such as the Almada Prize of the Ministry of Culture (2002) or the Gulbenkian Art Prize for her creative and interpreting career (2009), or through initiatives such as the presentation of a retrospective of her work, organized by Culturgest in 1999, entitled "Month of March, Month of Vera" or the Portuguese representation at the 26th São Paulo Biennial in 2004, with "Comer o Coração", a work created in partnership with the sculptor Rui Chafes.
The Portuguese dancer and choreographer is one of the central names of the Portuguese New Dance and brings to Maputo two emblematic soils that led Vera Mantero to the most prestigious international stages and that are inscribed in the fundamental repertoire of contemporary dance.
