Válvula- Rap and Digital Design on the History of Grafitti
Date and Time: Saturday, October 12 2019 at 19h00
Address: Fundação Fernando Leite Couto, Av. Kim Il Sung no. 961, Maputo
About the event
Válvula is a show for teenagers, youth and adults that starts from the history of Graffiti to take us on a journey with several questions:
Why have we drawn on the walls for thousands of years? Are these traits transgression, art, communication, or occupation? Can disobedience be legitimate?
In this unfathomable performance - half lecture, half hip-hop concert - designer António Jorge Gonçalves guides us with words and drawings through the scratches hunter-gatherers made on the rocks 30,000 years ago, by the drawn notes of the Romans on the walls of the houses in Pompeii and by the Mexican murals of 100 years ago as MC and activist Flávio Almada aka LBC Soldjah take us with words and music to the social contradictions of our cities.
Everything so that we can understand the spray can paintings that startle our walls. Without condescension, the show crosses various themes in a perspective that is beyond judgment.
This concert is part of the Maputo Fast Forward 2019 Festival schedule.
