The visits of Dr. Valdez
Adapted from an original by João Paulo Borges Coelho. It is a play whose narrative narrates the story of two sisters, Sá Amélia and Sá Caetana, who after having a traumatic childhood and an agonizing adult life, already elderly and both widows decide to take refuge in the city of Beira as a way to escape the war which invaded their homeland, Mucojo, Cabo Delgado province, we are in the 1960s and the war is against colonial domination.
In Beira, the two old ladies live with Vicente, a young servant brought from the land. These three characters, exiled in the impossibility of doing nothing against the past, to survive all this they wear masks of illusion and play, as do the actors, as a way to repair their lives miserably. It is in this game that Dr. Valdez, a doctor deceased for decades is evoked, but now lives inside Vicente's body that in combination with the great boss, Sá Caetana, represents to his mistress, Sá Amélia, and this not to spoil the game, as a good spectator, pretends to believe in the staging.
