“Story of a hat” book launch
At the invitation of Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo and Portuguese School of Mozambique - Portuguese Language and Teaching Center (EPM-CELP) Portuguese writer Sílvia Alves will be in Maputo between September 24 and 29 to participate in the Maputo Book Fair. During her stay the author will participate in several initiatives related to books and children's literature.
It is worth mentioning the programming prepared by EPM-CELP that will organize a series of activities with the teachers and the students of the school and the participation of the writer in a roundtable on September 26, at 5:00 p.m., in Camões - CCP Maputo, which will be dedicated to Children's Literature in Portuguese Language. This conversation will bring together important protagonists of the literary medium like Celso C. Cossa and Rogério Manjate and the illustrator Luís Cardoso. The round table, open to the public, will also count on the moderation of António Cabrita.
As part of the Maputo Book Fair, Sílvia Alves will participate in the opening of the event on September 27 at 09h00 a.m and will launch, at 14h30 p.m. the book "Story of a Hat", with illustrations by Luís Cardoso, in a session that will host a moment of dramatisation of the text of this book by the students of Escola Primária 12 de Outubro. This moment will also allow the realisation of a conversation with the students and the public. At the end of the session, an autograph session will take place.
The Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo and the Portuguese School of Mozambique - Portuguese Language and Teaching Center will have their own booth at the Book Fair, between September 27 and 30, in Jardim Tunduro, Maputo.
Sílvia Alves was born in Trás-os-Montes. She attended the Biology and Geology Teaching Course at the University of Minho and was a professor of Sciences for twelve years. She was responsible for the cultural programming of Bar Alinhavar, from 1996 to 2012. She is the author of the "Bruxinha", supplement of the weekly Leiria Region, of which she was editorial coordinator from 1999 to 2011 and chronicler of the Region of Leiria from 2004 to 2011.
She has collaborated in several magazines. She wrote about children's books for LER magazines and Fada Morgana (Galicia). Since 2004 he has been doing reading sessions and mediation in Pediatrics at Santo André Hospital, schools and libraries. Sílvia published the first book in 2006: "Coisas de Mãe", illustrations by João Caetano, Ed. Paulinas.
