Mozambique: ENI Open Day
Southern Africa Startup Awards-Mozambique
In recent years, the Mozambican economy has recorded an accelerated growth sustained by the extractive sector through the production of mineral coal, discovery of large natural gas reservoirs and signs of oil reserves.
Despite the rapid growth of the Mozambican economy in recent decades the demographics of poverty have practically remained unchanged. The country’s economic base is agriculture. The private sector is mostly comprised of small and medium enterprises. However, this dimension of the Mozambican economy has been supported by external investments made through mega projects.
In general, Mozambique macroeconomic performance has been positive. However, this performance is not sufficient to reduce the poverty level or the unemployment rates. In order to fill this gap, Mozambicans are starting to focus in raising their entrepreneurial spirit. To promote entrepreneurship there is a need of seeking alternative funding mechanisms for innovative ideas that contribute to improve the business environment, generate employment and find new market niches.
Therefore, Southern Africa Startup Awards – Mozambique, It is a platform to encourage innovative and creative Mozambican mindsets to raise their bar and expose what is ours! Bazza Mozambique!
