About the event
"Raízes de Sal" is a photographic exhibition by Mariano Silva that portrays the close relationship that the Mozambican people maintain with the Indian Ocean. In this collection of 43 photographs, curated by the renowned artist Filipe Branquinho, several daily scenes of many Mozambicans are portrayed, particularly in the coastal city of Nacala-Porto, Ilha de Moçambique and Palma, in the north of the country. Every day men, women and children, like many other Mozambicans throughout Mozambique, indulge in the crystalline waters of the Indian Ocean, the strongest ones venture out to sea, leaving their destiny in the hands of greater forces, those who return sometimes carry the discomfort of a hand full of nothing.
