About Nicolas Pascarel
Nicolas Pascarel was born in Paris in 1966 and worked as a photo reporter for over twenty seven years. Since the early 90’s, has spent the majority of his time in Naples, Cambodia, Vietnam and Havana. He lived in Havana in 1996 and 1997. Nicolas managed numerous workshops in 2000 and 2002 for the Royal Academy of the Fine Arts School of Phnom Penh; in 2001 in Havana Fine Art school (ISA), in 2002 untill 2008 in the city of Bangkok and also Chiang Rai in Thailand; as well as in Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam in 2005 and 2006. In 1998 after having lived in Havana, his approach to photography changed, and took on a more personal style; he began a close collaboration with the French Foreign Ministry to teach photography in several Fine Art schools in the world such as the Royal Academy of the Fine Arts School of Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand and also Bangkok; as well as Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam and the Fine Art school of Havana, Cuba.
Nicolas has been running photo workshops in Vietnam, Cambodia, Naples and Cuba for the the last 17 years. In the beginning of the 21st century, he collaborated often with some Cambodian NGO taking care of street children in Phnom Penh. During these years, he held several international exhibitions with the collaboration of French Embassy, the different Ministry of Culture of Cambodia and Cuba and French Foreign Office. His works speak about past memories, lost places and Saudade. His work was exhibited in more than 40 galleries across France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, USA, Cuba, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and China.
