Niassa Community Schools: Results of a community based experience of 22 years
The framework of the Juntos II / Othukumana project taking place in the Niassa Province, will be presenting the documentary "O dia de amanhã" (The day of tomorrow), about the Community Schools of Niassa (ECN) , on February 20, 2019, at 09h00 am at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo.
At the moment, the Laity for Development are closing a cycle of more than 20 years of collaboration with the Diocese of Lichinga and the governmental entities of Niassa. One of its projects in the province since the beginning of its presence are the Niassa Community Schools.
This community-based project works with communities to build and manage pre-school education response in the rural areas of Niassa, fostering bilingual education of Portuguese and emakwa as one of the main pedagogical objectives. The documentary "The Day of Tomorrow" explains the project of the Niassa Community Schools, with their history, communities and stakeholders, and explains the current situation of the ECNs, which are part of the Othukumana II project.
During the year 2018, under the Othukumana II project, a partnership between the Laity for Development, the Faith and Cooperation Foundation and the Diocese of Lichinga and funded by Misereor / Kindermissionwerk, a case study to be presented.
Now, it is time to share the fruit of the work of these years in the province of Niassa, with the presentation of the documentary and the dissemination of the main results of the ECN case study.
