Mozambique: ENI Open Day
Nhenha film exhibition by Andre Bahule
Three generations of women who dance Xingomana share their lives and through the songs and dances show the changes women have won in their community. The Mozambican women's movement turned this seduction dance into an affirmation of the strength and potential of women during the struggle for independence in the 1960s and 1970s. Now they struggle for the continuity of the message of this dance in the affirmation that the woman is strong- "Nhenha" in Changana, one of the languages of southern Mozambique.
