About Hélio Nhanala
Hélio Nhanala was born in Maputo in 1987. He is a musician, composer and performer. Graduated in Social Psychology at the Pedagogical University (UP). He uses music to intervene socially and express what an ordinary voice is not capable of vociferating.
He has performed in singing groups such as Refu, Harmony Young Voices, and MaJescoral and in his solo career incorporates styles such as marrabenta and afro jazz. In 2010 he participated in the Maputo International Music Festival as a support for the soprano Aundi Marie Moore and baritone Michael Redding, both from the USA, at Teatro Avenida. He has performed solo (guitar and voice) or accompanied by his band at various cultural events in the city and province of Maputo.
