Mozambique: ENI Open Day
M’laio band at Limas Bar
Art being the terrain where human culture grows and develops; where the supplements of life are revealed and the existential element is questioned, the M'Laio Band is given a careful reflection as well as the duty to investigate through music the sign of the times, and interpret them in the light of an aesthetic that makes coexist the elements of both the past and the present. Moreover, the definition of our time as anti-tradition, radicalized and assuming unprecedented proportions throughout history, compromises and weakens the existence of a common basis of collective evidence for social interaction. It is looking at this scenario that the band finds its vector to make sense of the music that is wanted by the style - unique and innovative - without losing the sense of tradition and national belonging, making us realize that art is an open space and articulated to other modes of relationship with truth.
The band merges African Rhythms such as Marrabenta, Tufo, Mutimba with other styles like Jazz, bossa nova and more, without losing the sense of tradition.
