"Your body can travel away from home, but your soul remains."
Mariam returns to Burkina Faso after leaving as a child when she was adopted and sent to South Africa, where she has always felt displaced. She is now a sick young adult and returns to her homeland to spend her last days in the land of her ancestors.
Not familiar with the language, culture or standards. She seeks to reconnect with her family and her roots. While trying to figure out how to get to her home village, she meets and befriends a charismatic bicycle/taxi driver, Moussa, who offers to take her south claiming good knowledge of the country and the exact spot of his village.
Moussa lives a busy life in the city. He leads a lonely life with many financial difficulties and away from his family in a remote village.
Moussa seems to have everything under control, hiding his difficulties with his charm, charisma and style. As his debts increase, Moussa becomes increasingly paranoid in Ouagadougou. He needs to leave.
