About the documentary
Karen is a young Muslim woman from the island of Mozambique, a historic site of confluence of cultures and where until recently an “African Islam” coexisted harmoniously with other religious practices. Karen is now discovering what she calls "pure Islam" from Saudi Arabia and wants to see Mozambique become an Islamic state. “Between Me and God” plunges into the life of this young Mozambican woman to uncover what lies behind the veil with which she covers herself, her doubts and contradictions about the radical path she defends.
