About the exhibition
The word chirality derives from the Greek word kheir, which means hand. Human hands and feet are chiral: regardless of their position they are never overlapping. They are forms that, although they have the same configuration, operate with each other like a mirror, that is, their symmetry is not superimposable. Like our hands, molecular compounds also show the same kind of property: a mirror symmetry which, however, overlaps, becomes asymmetric.
The exhibition “Chirality” explores the idea of “personal identity” as an image that mirrors the environment that surrounds us, both in terms of the physical and digital environment, trying to demonstrate the dichotomy between the similarities of our appearances and the realities, asymmetrical shapes that shape our individual uniqueness.
The six works that constitute this exhibition propose a reflective but critical approach to how data and movement define our identities. Irreverent, provocative and unconventional, these works lead us to challenge our prejudices about data and to look at humanity behind these new technologies that record and accompany our every movement. Participating artists challenge our culture's ineptitude in capturing this perceptive erosion and give us a testimony of how this journey embodies diversity.
