Masks and Ancestry workshop by Mariana Rhormens
Mariana Rhormens, Brazilian actress, researcher of Brazilian, African masks - including Mapiko - and Balinese, will offer the workshop "Masks and Ancestry".

Mariana Rhormens is an actress and clown graduated in Performing Arts from the State University of Campinas, UNICAMP. She is a doctoral student in the Graduate Program in Arts at UNICAMP with the project "The Mapiko Mask: between identities and alterities" and teacher with the project titled "A look at the masks of Mapiko: technical, symbolic and creative appropriation of the mask ", with the guidance of Matteo Bonfitto Júnior.
During this research she carried out intensive work in Mozambique where she studied studies on the Mapiko manifestation, her mask, theatricality, musicality and plasticity, and in Senegal at École des Sables where she studied dance and percussion. She is the founder and actress of Grupo Desembargadores do Van which develops research with Balinese masks and management in urban space, explored in the show "An irremediable choice", under the direction of Tiche Vianna.
She is the founder and flutist of the Samba de Dandara musical group, which explores sambas, afoxés, Afro-Brazilian musicality and the role of the woman within this universe and member of the Ilu Obá de Min Block where she participates in Djembe.
