Ras Skunk is a roots reggae artist from Mozambique who started his career in 1999. Influenced by his gradual spiritual growth, he became interested in the Rastafari movement, listening to Joseph Hill and Burning Spear. At the same time, he started attending Zion Church, wanting to know more about Jah, black oppression (its root) and how music could save and free the oppressed. This encouraged him to sing reggae as a “Gospel”, in the hope of healing the hearts of the black movement and encouraging peace, love and liberation among all nations. First he began to sing to himself until he understood his true calling - to sing about the salvation of Jah and to sing against the oppressive system of Babylon. In 2018 he released his debut album Born In Africa on Kongoloti Records.
