About the book
The musician and writer Kalaf Epalanga, a member of the band Buraka Som Sistema, drives from the Swedish city of Gothenburg to Oslo, the capital of Norway, where he performed at the OYA festival.
As he does not have a valid passport to show he is detained for attempted illegal immigration and taken to the police station for questioning. Aware of the imminence of losing the concert, he wonders: how am I going to explain to these Norwegian policemen that, despite my uncommon appearance at these stops, I am nothing more than a peaceful Angolan musician on the road? How can I explain to them who is Buraka Som Sistema? Should I tell them about the Lisbon music festival? How was Kuduro born in a "musseque" in Luanda? Will they understand? This is the story of this extraordinary and surprising book by Kalaf Epalanga.
It is actually a work of self-fiction, cultivated by so many European writers but relatively rare among us. And the world that shows us - from Luanda to Kristiansund, from Beirut to Rio de Janeiro, not to mention his beloved Lisbon - is a true revelation.
