MEIS 2025: Mozambique’s Energy & Industry Summit
Launch of the book “O Blue Da Majika” by António Cabrita and João Donato
The "Blue da Majika" is the result of a challenge that the Mozambican sculptor João Donato launched to the writer António Cabrita to write about his latest ceramic pieces: fifteen re-creations of traditional Mozambican musical instruments.
António Cabrita, currently a professor at the School of Communication and Arts at Eduardo Mondlane University, recalled the mythical history of the Music of the Spheres, which supposedly ruled the harmony of the cosmos, amused himself to seek an origin for the creation of these musical and vital instruments to propagate the communion of rhythms and empathy among humans so permeable to indifference and discord.
The Blue da Majika aims, through reflection and amusement, to be a pioneering object in the articulation between arts and poetry. The 15 pieces of pottery by João Donato were exhibited at the Art Center, in an individual exhibition that was held on 14 and 20 November.
